What are the precautions in handling video cards?

in handling video cards , specially in installing one, what are the parts of a video card that is prohibited to touch? Is it ok, because I accidentally touch the bottom part of the card, to where it would fit in, the slot???

What are the precautions in handling video cards?
The same basic precautions for all cards apply to video cards. Make sure that you are properly grounded, so that you do not accidentally zap the card with static.

Probably the only part you shouldn't touch is the side connector edge. This will help to assure proper contact for the electronics. Your skin oils could otherwise interfere.
Reply:No. Typically, you'd take the same precautions you'd make with any static sensitive device (like being grounded).

I generally don't touch the contacts alot in order not to deposit the grease from my fingers on them but otherwise the only things I watch for are related to static electricity.
Reply:make sure your not carrying any static by touching a power supply or a peice of metal and grounding yourself and most importantly never touch the gold pins on the connector of the card.
