Anyone know of any effective cheap video cards?

Ok, I live in Toronto/Canada and I am looking for the cheeaapeesstt but yet effective 128 MB video card which would run as good as MMORPG games. Currently I have 2.70 GHz / 500 MB / 40 GB / Pentium 4 with Intel® 82845G 64 MB video card.

Any ideas, please? Pre-used would be fine.

The best way to buy a video card is to set a price limit. Then you can search for options within that price range. Also, find a seller online that has "compare" options so you can line them up side-by-side and see which one fits your needs best. I like newegg.com, but there are plenty of others out there.

A cheap video card would be in the $40-$80 range I think.
Reply:do you have AGP or PCI-E?

im gonna guess AGP (im pretty certain)

The following cards should be no trouble to get hold of second hand, between 50-100 pounds (UK) but in america computer stuff is cheaper so dont worry, should be loads less!.

an ATI 9600 (pro or XT), 9700 (nothing or pro) 9800 (nothing, pro or XT). (wont list more as they'll be too expensive)

or if you like Nvidia.

6600, 6600GT, 6800 or 6800GT.

the cards are listed in order of power (approximately), and should scale in cost similarly.

overall the 2 id recomend for best value would be a 9600XT or 6600GT, but if you can afford it get a 6800/6800GT.
Reply:PCI E or AGP or regular PCI i will show you all.
