I know a few years ago my girlfriend had a DELL that prevented such manouevering. I don't know about Lenovos.
If I buy a "Lenovo 3000 K100" desktop, will I be able to replace the sound and video cards?
Computer systems come with physically different types of video interface slots- for about 10 years AGP was the industry standard, over the past 5 years the newer PCI-Express interface has become the most common.
Since AGP cards won't fit into a PCI-Express slot and vice versa, it's important to know which type your computer has before purchasing a video card.
Since the Lenovo 3000 series is new, computers from this line have a PCI-Express x16 slot for video expansion. Although you may not need to unless you're looking for a serious gaming card. The Intel X3100 series Graphics Media Accelerator has gotten very favorable reviews- it's actually decent performance from an integrated video chipset (something almost unheard of before)
You should be able to upgrade sound %26amp; video without any issues, if you choose.
Reply:You shouldn't have any problems with this - just make sure that you get the proper Video card type (PCIe, AGP, PCI)
Reply:Hello,
I'm of course biased (I own the company, haha) but I would like to tell you about the "undiscovered wonders" of buying from smaller companies.
Our company is a small, new business specializing in custom and pre-configured desktop PCs. Every aspect of what we do is unmatched by (probably) anyone else.
The process starts with you simply sending me an email. I will personally take care of you from figuring out the perfect configuration, to getting support when you need it. We only use the very best brands for each component, and each computer is built-to-order with meticulous care.
Our warranty and support are like nowhere else. Because we're a small business, we can dedicate all the time you need to finding the right parts, to getting support for a problem.
Now you mentioned upgrading, so here's the cool part about us: If you want to upgrade any part at all, just call us. We'll make sure the part is compatible (or recommend one) and even install it for you (for free if you're under warranty). All you pay for is a discounted price (well below retail) and shipping both ways. If you want to upgrade it yourself, we will send you the part (or you can purchase it yourself elsewhere) and we will guide you through the installation process.
But anyway, I really recommend you give us a call before making any decisions. If you don't like us, all you lost is a few minutes of your time!
Please call me at 407-325-5877 or email me at karel@lotuspc.net. You can visit our website at http://www.lotuspc.net/
Thanks,
Karel
Reply:you would need one of those kinds because those are your options. You asked if you can replace the cards and the answer was giving you advise . Do a search of the PC you are looking to buy and they should have a pic of the motherboard on their site. The pic will show you what slot you have for a video card. It will also let you know if it has onboard graphics and all open and used slots. Good luck
Reply:Check whether your Lenovo has PCIe slot (AGP cards are old and PCI ancient, so you probably you will need PCIe one)for graphic cards. It should have, but better to be sure. Sound cards will be fine.
