Can i have Geek Squad take my computer in and install parts like video cards?

I want to send my hp pavillion computer (desktop) to be upgraded with a new video card and other things important to play games. Can you tell me if they will do that? (p.s Geek Squad is a service by Best Buy that fixes computers)

Can i have Geek Squad take my computer in and install parts like video cards?
They'll do it, but they'll charge you an arm and a leg for it.

Doing it yourself really is VERY easy. There are lots of online tutorials to teach you how. Changing out a graphics card takes about five minutes, and the only tool you'll need is a phillips head screwdriver (to open the case). Geek Squad will probably charge you $50-$100 for those five minutes of work.
Reply:For those interested, you can go to the geek squad web page and view what services they offer and what they charge. Any computer shop can upgrade your video card, Not retail store.
Reply:They will, but they are expensive. You can do it yourself pretty easily. If you don't know how, visit the hp website. They have tutorials on how to do upgrades to your computer.
Reply:The Geek Squad? You have got to be joking? A bunch of kids, barely making what McDonald's pays. Whose primary job is to sell you the highest mark-up Anti-Virus or Anti-spyware that Best Buy happens to be pushing this week. No thanks.

"Zenitram asks:

"I am a lead technician at a company that repairs computers for various vendors. Many of our systems are from Best Buy's Geek Squad. Based on the systems Geek Squad sends us, it makes me wonder what, if anything, do they actually do? We get systems that have issues that we simply shouldn't have to work on, like: installing device drivers, OS reloads, and reseting CRUs (Customer Removable Units). Additionally, we get systems that are misdiagnosed such as: bad hard drive when a system has faulty RAM; no POST when it simply won't boot into Windows; or no boot when it won't power on at all. So, what is the scope of technical repair that Geek Squad techs do?"
Reply:These people that are answering your question are misinformed!!

Geek Squad will do any hardware install for $39. They will do it right. And you have a 90-day workmanship warranty on it.

If you don't know how to do it, it is better to have it done by a professional. If something goes wrong with the work they did on your computer within 90 days, they will gladly fix the mistake at no charge.
Reply:do it yourself its easy!!! the are many books that will show you step by step i.n the libary.I really is simple, a sixth grader can do it.
Reply:if you can open the case on your computer, you would have already done 30% of the work. changing cards is quite easy. here's a link from dell. although it is a different brand, the process is quite the same.

once you have installed the card. boot to windows and install the driver.
