How can I check to see if I accidentally corrputed my audio and video cards when I deleted a bunch of files?

Two years ago, I was deleting what I thought were useless files to increase my space on a Windows Milenium Edition. Nowadays, I can not change my colors to 256. It's stuck on 16 bit color, and my sound is not responding. I pull up Media Player, and it says audio software not detected. Any advice?

un-install and re-install the drivers will fix it if windows does not have them (which it should) get them from manufactures website
