When building a new computer, what is the benefit of running duel video cards?

Do you have to run two to play high DirectX 10 games? Or is it just so you can have two monitors?

Two graphics cards will give you a little less than double the performance of a single graphics card. You can have dual monitors with one card, and you can have it with two cards.

HOWEVER,

If you want to play DirectX 10 games with DX10 features, you must get a DX10 compatible card. Right now, that means a nVidia GeForce 8000 series card or an ATI Radeon 2000 or 3000 series.
Reply:Twice the productivity /slash/ two different views for gaming
Reply:even with only 1 video card you can run dual monitors, but the benifits for getting dual video card is for XTREME gamers who have the 30" + monitors, what dual video cards do is baiscally split the screen into half and each video card is responislble for their side of the scree, instead of 1 video card stressing out. if you have a 24" or smaller screen just get a 8800 GT and youll be very well off
