Its good if you are using high end graphical programs or games on one or more large moniters 24inch+. Usually on resolutions above 1420x900.. otherwise a 768mb or 1gb card is fine.
Basically your FPS will only increase by a small amount and take a small strain of your computer resources. It is not worth all that money for a small performance boost.
bottom line theres is nothing on the pc that uses more than 1gb of graphical useage and wont be for a long time maybe 2-3yr.
Id recommend 2x 768mb geforce 8800GT's / 8800GTX's (sli)
Or radeon 2x 2900xt Pro's (crossfire)
But these setups require at least 700watt power supplys and a compatiple motherboard. Also get extra fan for g cards to keep em cool.
SERIOUSLY is quad SLI or Crossfire really necessary? You know running 4 video cards in your computer?
Well yes it is if you gots enuf cash and want to experience the ultimate gaming experience (like Crysis with everything Very High, Lost Planet dx10 and similar...)
Also, the manufacturers wouldnt have made that if it wasnt neccesary
Reply:4 card is over the top
but i personally run crossfire..but with two very cheap cards....it works out cheaper that buying one expensive 1
Reply:Seems like overkill to me. I have to agree with you.
